| The USASA
is the United States Amateur Soccer Association. Paul Athanasiadis,
Mike Gorenberg, and Manny Lopes coach the
Massachusetts Women Select Team, which is representing the East
at the US Soccer Festival. The team operates under the Massachusetts
State Soccer Association, which is better known as
MASS Soccer. |
| Spirit goalkeeper
Ashley Phillips was originally on the roster for the Massachusetts
Women State Select Team, but on July 12 she was selected to play for the
U16
National Team, which is also playing at the US Soccer Festival.
US National teams are organized by the
United
States Soccer Federation. Coincidentally, the first tournament
game for the Massachusetts and U16 National Team was on Monday, July 29 at
6PM when they played each other with Ashley in goal for the US!
Unfortunately, Ashley will miss playing for Spirit at the San Diego
Surf Cup on Saturday due to
her National Team commitment, but will be joining the team for the games
on Sunday and Monday. |
